gradient goat is a practice game for matrix calculus. You can play without an account. Signing in with Google is only needed to post scores to the leaderboard.
What we store when you sign in
- Google's ID number for your account, so we recognize you next time.
- The username you choose. It is public on the leaderboard.
- For school Google accounts only: your school's domain (for example berkeley.edu) and its display name (Berkeley). It is shown next to your username only if you choose to show it. Work and personal accounts get no tag.
- The scores you post, with the level, duration and time.
- A sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in on that device for up to a year.
What we don't store
- Your email address, name or profile photo. Google shares them during sign-in, but we only read the domain and discard the rest.
- Anything about how you play beyond the scores you choose to post.
The site has no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Your settings and personal bests are saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
Who sees what
Your username, your scores and, if you choose, your school tag are public on the leaderboard, including on your school's board and in school rankings. Nothing else is shown to anyone. We never sell or share your data.
Where it lives
The site and its database run on Cloudflare. Sign-in is handled by Google.
Removing your data
Sign out from your username in the top corner to end your session on that device. To delete your account and all your scores, email [email protected] from the Google account you signed in with, and we'll remove everything within 7 days.
